Diana´s Temple was designed by architect Josef Hardtmuth for the prince Jan I. This voluptuary building is also known as Rendez-vous probably because it was used as a meeting place and facilities for hunters before hunting. Diana´s Temple is located near Valtice on the left of the road to Poštorná. The architect Josef Poppelack managed the construction work from 1810-1813.
The Rendez-vous has the form of a Roman triumphal arch and is dedicated to the patron of hunting Diana. This was a meeting place for the aristocracy during hunting trips. The Arch of Trajan in Benevento was the most likely direct model for Rendez-vous: an arch with a single pass built in the Corinthian style. During a guided tour you can learn more about the history, exterior, and interior of this building situated in beautiful natural scenery with a pond.
